LOCATION OF AQUILA APARTMENTS
AQUILA is located on the Caribbean island Curacao, part of the Dutch Antilles.
Together with Bonaire and Aruba, these unique tropical Caribbean islands with it´s Dutch flavour, are located at the southern Caribbean, some 30 kilometers from the coast of Venezuela.
The village of Santa Rosa is just little east of the capital Willemstad and was originally an area of agricultural estates and plantations known as "landhuizen". These "landhuizen" can be spotted all over the area. At the present, Santa Rosa has actually grown together with Willemstad, it´s at the outer side of the city with large plots for the houses and nice hilly surroundings. Space and view are keywords here.

The bungalows and apartments are situated at the old plantation called Schooneboom, along the road locally known as the road from the center of Willemstad to Kwartje or Koraal Partier.
The center of Willemstad, with it´s pleasantly renovated old harbour houses and colonial estates, is about 10-15 minutes away by car or bus. The airport is about 20 to 25 minutes drive.
On the rough north coast Playa Canoa and Jorisbaai are close. Playa Canoa is the place for surfers, as the ever present northern wind swells the waves, that break when entering the shallow waters at the north coast.

To the south, nice lagoons and beaches include Barbara Beach, the popular Mambo beach and the Seaquarium, Caracas Bay and Jan Thiel Bay, are all 10 to 15 minutes drive. Watersports are very popular at all of these beaches and around the lagoon Spaanse Water (Spanish Water).
A local store can be found opposite AQUILA with most daily groceries available. A large European/American style supermarket can be found at appr. 2 km. A fresh bakery is 400m away and a laundry is 600m away, as well as laundry. A public busstop is located at 200 m.
Small minivans (9 persons) come and go every couple of minutes during the week, the sunday day service being less regular. The buses drive between the center of Willemstad and St. Barbara (Barbara Beach), so everything on this route can be reached easily. On the route back, they´ll drop you in front of our complex.
At 300 m a KFC and Subway is located, several local "Snacks" are at walking distance (take away bread, rice, chicken, spare ribs, french fries), as well as a small Chinese restaurant. Within a couple of km larger international restaurants can be found.
